A weekend in Vienna

Vienna, as the center of Austria, offers more than enough cultural experiences to last a lifetime. The more difficult to make an ideal plan for just one weekend, without forgetting the most important elements.

For breakfast on Friday to Café Landtmann for a Melange and a "Kipferl". Cross the Freyung and the Graben to pay a brief visit to St. Stephen's Cathedral and then visit one of the many beautiful courtyards of the surrounding Baroque and Biedermeier houses.

Along the magnificent Ringstrasse you will find many sights: the City Hall and the Parliament, the Vienna State Opera and the Burgtheater - perhaps you will buy tickets for the evening performance right away? Or you can visit one of the beautiful parks on the way, the Burggarten or the Volksgarten with over 3000 rose bushes.

Art and culture on Saturday? Albertina, Kunsthistorisches Museum and the

Museumsquartier have something to offer for every taste with their exhibitions and collections. Or you can combine art with garden architecture and nature: After visiting a current exhibition of the Unteres Belvedere, you walk through the magnificent garden up to the Schloss Belvedere.

After visiting the art collection it is worth visiting the Botanical Garden.

Those who still have energy for art will find modern art in the Belvedere 21 nearby.

And on Sunday get out of the city for a bit. Vienna's quickly accessible green belt invites to many walks through the Viennese forest and the local mountains. Afterwards you can enjoy a glass of Grüner Veltliner or Zweigelt at one of the Viennese wine taverns "Heurigen".

But you could also go to the Spittelberg or the Augarten or the Prater but then you should stay a little longer....
